Research

With our research, we investigate ecological processes and contribute to the development of adaptive forest management regimes in the context of continuously and simultaneously changing social, economic and abiotic conditions. The following subject areas are of key importance for our research:

Schutzwald_pikto

Stand dynamics and succession modelling

We investigate the development of stand structure under the influence of various biotic and abiotic factors. »

Keywords:

Dendroecology, forest reserves, forest-wildlife

Kohlenstoff_pikto

Carbon and water cycles

We investigate the role of forests as carbon sinks and sources and the importance of vegetation in the local and regional water cycle. »

Keywords:

Photosynthesis, respiration, biomass, soil carbon, nutrient cycle, water, evapotranspiration, transpiration

Stoerung_pikto

Landscape dynamics and disturbance regimes

We investigate disturbance regimes such as insect outbreaks and forest fires. »

Keywords:

Landscape dynamics, large-scale processes
