Welcome, Ismail Bekar
We welcome Ismail Bekar as a new PhD student in the Forest Ecology Group! Ismail studied Biology at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey where he graduated in 2016 with a master thesis entitled "The role of anthropogenic and natural factors in shaping recent fire regimes in Mediterranean ecosystems". He got Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship in 2016 and at the moment he is working on fire ecology and modelling.

A warm welcome to Mohammed Ibrahim as a new scientific assistant in the Forest Ecology Group! Mohammed Ibrahim studied Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich and graduated with a master thesis entitled „Diversität endophytischer Blattpilze auf Fraxinus ornus“ .

We welcome Gunnar Petter as a new postdoc in the Forest Ecology Group! Gunnar studied Geoecology at the TU Braunschweig (Germany) where he graduated with his diploma thesis entitled “Simulating the population dynamics of Corbicula fluminea under varying environmental conditions - An energy budget based approach“
Welcome, Michaela Voleková
We welcome Michaela Voleková as a new PhD student in the Forest Ecology Group! Michaela Voleková studied Forestry at the Technical University in Zvolen, Slovakia where she graduated in 2015 with a master thesis entitled “Genetic diversity of fir populations of the complex Abies cephalonica”. After her internship at the Population Genetics Group, Technical University Munich, Germany she is working on tree mortality modelling.

We welcome Eva Bianchi as a new PhD student at the Forest Ecology Group! Eva Bianchi studied environmental sciences at ETH Zurich and completed her studies in 2015 with a master thesis entitled "Seedling recruitment of Larix decidua and Picea abies along an elevation gradient across a treeline ecotone in the Swiss Alps ".
